Alvin and the Chipmunks (U)

Jason Lee, David Cross, Cameron Richardson, Justin Long, Jane Lynch, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney.

Alvin and the chipmunks is a funny yet touching movie about three chipmunks, Alvin, Theodore and Simon, in their rise to fame from the animal life in the forests of America to life as furry pop stars. The movie is full of laughs, mischief, "awwww" moments and evil schemes as the chipmunk's surrogate dad, Dave Seville, tries to stop his record producer, Ian, from stealing the chipmunks for his greedy, moneymaking purposes.

When Ian realises that the three furry friends could become a huge singing sensation, he manages to win the chipmunks over with lies and expensive presents, and they elude Dave's grasp and slip innocently into the hands of "uncle" Ian. It soon becomes apparent that the big-and-spoilt life is a little too big for Alvin and co, but now that Ian is earning his millions through the overworked chipmunks, how will Dave get them back?

Alvin, Theodore and Simon are three unlikely friends, all with their own identity in the form of extremes in personality. They wind each other up and disagree 99% of the time, but when the situation becomes tight, they all string together; but are their efforts enough to escape the clutches of Ian?

If you think this movie may be too young for you, watch it first! Alvin and the chipmunks is a laugh for the whole family; besides, who could resist three cute, talking, singing chipmunks?
