"Alice..." by Phyliss Reynolds Naylor

What I like about these books is that they actually sound like they are written by a teenage girl. I find the books also very funny, and often collapse into giggles on my bed... but that's not the point... ;-)

The series is focused around a teenage girl called Alice McKinley, who lives with her Dad and older brother, Lester. She has two best friends called Pamela and Elizabeth, and a boy mate/ex boyfriend named Patrick.

Her mother died when she was young, so Alice is always looking for a mother to "adopt". Brother's girlfriends, teachers, aunties... substitute mothers are everywhere for Alice!

Alice is constantly embarrassing herself, and the whole book is not only funny, but you get to see inside the mind of a girl going through some of the same stuff we do. It's awesome. Reserve the bath for an hour and read 'em!
