2 Moons - PC

2 Moons initially intrigued me as a game that was particularly violent, having it claim it was recommended for 17+ age group, but not restricted for that age group, with this in mind I downloaded the client. Now I’ve played a fair amount of MMORPGs, including the major ones like WoW, Guild Wars, Final Fantasy XI and Runescape. But I also played the less major ones like Silkroad Online, Knight Online and now 2 Moons.

Having played a lot of MMORPGs, I’ve come to realise that it isn’t easy to enter the league of successful online rpgs. With games like WoW and Runescape boasting over 8 million players each it’s easy to see why a lot of new games fail very quickly, however this gives no excuse for games to not have new ideas.

I only played 2 moons for just over 2 hours and I do believe that was enough to work out the kind of game I’d be playing should I continue; the ideas it claims are “new” such as a personal, portable shop I found on Silkroad Online, and the single-player level-dictated dungeons I found on Guild Wars. With this in mind I began playing with a cynical view towards the game and my thoughts of unoriginality, bugs and lag were not-long proven.

As you start you’re given a choice of 5 classes and you can’t even change the gender, or customise them at all, something I think is key to a successful game, any game is the customisable hero. Next you get the choice of 2 starting points which will be your home town and re-spawn point should you die.

However not all was bad in this game, the graphics were passable for a game of this type and there were no game-play issues. Also there were some new ideas that looked like they were copied but actually had a few neat little tricks and twists, such as having to buy the set of upgrades token you earn points for.

All in all I would say this game isn’t worth downloading; there are better games out there available for free download and in all honesty it’s not got enough wow factor to excite me. As a rating out of 10 I would give “2 Moons” a low 3.
